The way forward isn’t through righteous determination. We each have a natural inclination, a deep impulse, towards growth. Just as a seed will grow into a mighty tree—it needn’t do anything, as long as nothing stops it. It just needs to be.
Human beings are in a unique situation in which we are able to stop our own growth and impede our natural inclinations through the agency of our free will. We are like a seed that can choose to remain a seed, or a sprouting, or stop growing at any stage of our journey. It’s not so much that we need to grow or change or be anything in particular. It is just that God made us with the blueprint of a tree in mind.
A tree isn’t better than a seed—but it is far more advanced. A tree can photosynthesize more light. It can even create hundreds of new seeds.
Stop stopping yourself means there’s nothing that you need to do to reach your full potential. You just need to get out of your own way and let it happen.
There is a difference between pushing yourself or desiring (ego) and allowing (higher self). This is something I’ll share my thoughts on in a future post. For now, just trust your intuition.
Reflection/Journaling Prompt
If outcome, excuses, or judgement were not factors, what would you stop stopping yourself from doing right now? What would you do in the next week?
Love the idea of having a prompt at the end of the post! I need to reflect on this one.
